We are a group of volunteers who are trying to support grass-roots community development efforts in Nicaragua. Our organisation was founded in 1995 by two young Canadian professionals who found that they shared a desire to help people in the developing world while maintaining a certain set of principles. They also found that they had both been unsuccessful in finding an organisation that helped them accomplish their goals in an appropriate manner.
So they founded FOG to work towards their goals and in the hope that they could help like-minded people explore the option of using their privileged positions to affect some positive change the developing world and at home. Maybe you are one of those people?
Since our foundation, we have supported many community-development efforts in Nicaragua by providing funds and volunteers. We have developed long term relationships with many exceptional people in Nicaragua and hope to continue supporting them in their efforts to give hope and to improve the conditions in their communities.
