El Bosque is a small town of around one thousand people that was constructed in 1999-2000 to house the survivors of the mudslide on La Casita volcano which occurred in October 1998 during Hurricane Mitch. It's located about three kilometers from Posoltega.

In June 2000, we began supporting the community development efforts of MEC in Posoltega by providing some of the resources needed to build and equip a children's library in El Bosque (pictured on the right). Click here to find out more about this project.
